Game Thread: Curry upgraded to probable tonight against Clippers; Wiggins questionable (quad contusion)

He looked good shooting around earlier this afternoon, and the Golden State Warriors have formally updated Stephen Curry’s game status to “probable” for tonight’s rubber band match against Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Here’s your look at Curry. Posted around 2pm by the Warriors, it features 20 seconds of that sweet Curry shot, looking as pretty as ever.

Oh wait, wrong Curry!

Stephen Curry is shooting the most free throws of his entire career - by a lot! Currently at 7.5 free throws per game, Curry is the 9th most frequent visitor to the charity stripe - his previous highest mark was just 5.9 per game, and his career average is only 4.1. Bigger, bolder, and better, Curry is expanding his game in a new direction this year and finally getting the whistle he has always deserved!

Unfortunately, the basketball gods giveth, and they taketh away - looks like Wiggins may be leaning more towards out.

Though his shot still isn’t falling as often as I’d like, it’s hard to fault Wiggins, who has pretty clearly been one of the Warriors best players this season. His stalwart defense against Kawhi Leonard and Paul George is going to be sorely missed. Averaging 17.8 points per game (2nd on the team behind only Curry) as well as 4.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in just over 32 minutes per game, the absence of Wiggins is going to leave a huge gap in the Warriors rotation.

If Wiggins can’t go, I’ll guess that Juan Toscano-Anderson gets the start. He’s one of the best defenders off the bench; but I’d also put Kent Bazemore in as a dark horse candidate, for the same reason: defense. The Paul George / Kawhi Leonard duo is firing on all cylinders this season and may come out with a vengeance after a subpar last game.

It’s a wild, wild world out there, so anything is possible tonight.

Let’s go, Warriors!!!
