Iguodala scrimmaged but still listed as out; “find a formula”
Stephen Curry “shouldn’t be too far off”
The Golden State Warriors stayed in Atlanta yesterday for practice in the afternoon before flying out later that evening to Washington for the game against the Wizards tonight. Steve Kerr spoke to reporters about Andre Iguodala (who was expected to play at either Washington or Memphis), the fluctuations in the lineup, and Stephen Curry’s progress. No one spoke at practice.
The clickable video above is about Iguodala. The one right here is about the constantly changing lineups and Curry:
STEVE
Rotation: Everybody’s gonna play against Washington…Andre would be the one question mark…”
Decision marker on Andre: “When the training staff tells me he can play. I honestly don’t even worry about it. When they tell me he can play, he can play. He scrimmaged today. Guys had a 3-on-3 and he looked good…we’ll see.”
How do you plan to utilize Andre? “The beauty of Andre is that it doesn’t matter how you play him, he impacts the game in so many ways with his passing, with his defense, with his intelligence, his awareness…every game seemingly for the last month has been different…Who’s available, who’s not…we’re trying to find a some continuity…to try to fit Andre into a situation that’s already fluid…”
Same starting lineup? “Probably…not gonna commit to it…I don’t think it was lineup related…we didn’t play well…not gonna immediately abandon everything…give some things a try…plenty of options…”
Moody (not playing late at Atlanta): “…we made that run the fourth quarter…normally when he’s fully in the rotation he’s playing 20-25 minutes…riding that group (last night)…Draymond didn’t play until the last two minutes…idk that Wiggs played at all in the fourth…”
Played well without starters: “We showed clips today from last night that were directly related to things that we did do in Miami that we were not doing last night. Fundamental stuff. Execution stuff…so that’s our job as coaches is to talk about that execution…this is kind of where we are with different guys in the lineup, Draymond just returning now. We have to find a formula like we did in Miami that fits this group. Steph’s out, that changed a lot of things. So that was the focus today at practice.”
Steph: I talked to Steph yesterday…still in rehab stage, he’s not on the court yet but everything’s going well. Again, they’re gonna be cautious and make sure everything is in order by the time he gets back on the court and starts getting after it. That hasn’t happened yet but it shouldn’t be too far off.”
