Iguodala to play 15-17 minutes and why fans shouldn’t be mad at what Kerr says in interviews
Warriors-Grizzlies pregame notes/quotes/video
Andre Iguodala is back! Btw do you like the graphic above? I’ve been doing these virtual backgrounds for our YouTube channel game commentary livestreams for awhile now and have finally decided to use them does my pregame transcripts.
Here’s the entire pregame from both Taylor Jenkins and Steve Kerr:
I have had tremendous respect for Jenkins ever since I first heard him do a pregame eons ago. The funny thing is, he and all the other 28 coaches say exactly the same thing that Kerr does! I mean, why wouldn’t they? So next time you hear those three ridiculous words (“Fire Steve Kerr”), think about it. If 29 other NBA coaches say pretty much the same thing, what does that say about the people who hate what Kerr has to say at every press conference?
That’s why I left these (partial) transcripts in chronological order. Btw Jaren Jackson, Jr. and Brandon Clarke are both game time decisions.
TAYLOR JENKINS
Guys who are questionable: “They’ll be game time. JJ’s dealing just with a little bit of side soreness that crept up last game…”
Difference without Steph: “…personality in their system…a lot of d different guys put…went down to Miami and win…Jordan Poole…early ball screens and off ball screens…really good complementary role players…this team is a really confident group.” 🚨
Locking up second seed with win: “Our focus is on just winning tonight’s game…proud of…attention to detail…still have more work to do…find our groove…”
Satisfied? “…foul too much…transition defense…”
Fouling for a specific player (inaudible)
When to play guys approaching playoffs: “…just focused on today…”
Looking at standings? “…try to push it aside…look at it once a week…(can’t) nose cancel everything…what’s the film showing us…that’s what’s driven us so why would were change now?…”
No pinch me moment? “I always wait until the end of the season…deep and deep and deep before we have a reflection point…they’re truly not satisfied (even though) you see the swagger…wow, this was a great practice, guys…just my job to keep it going.”
(Inaudible): “This is probably the most fun team that I’ve ever had…great organization…the results, of course, add a little bonus to it…”
(inaudible): “…coming out of the All-Star…same stuff just at a higher level…mental side of it…sprinkling that in…can’t just completely change gears…”
STEVE
(Inaudible): “Yeah, can’t wait to get Andre back out there…miss his court awareness…point forward role…welcome sight…”
No Ja Morant: “Well, from what I understand they’re 17-2 without him…Memphis has had a fantastic season…they’ve for something special…we’re coming in here tonight reeling…I truly believe there’s gonna come a point, whether it’s the last couple games of the season or Game 1 of the playoffs where we’re gonna have everybody healthy, we’re gonna come together and it’s gonna click. I’ve seen the core group won championships. Draymond Green is a stone cold winner. Two state championships, two Final Fours, three NBA championships. I know what Draymond’s about…I know what Steph and Klay and Andre and Loon are about. I have total faith…but at have to get through the turbulent waters first…” 🚨
Turbulent NBA season: “It is pretty unique to have this many teams…COVID…superstars changing teams late in the season…inordinate number of teams that are sort of going through this…some teams had it earlier, we’re having it right now…knowing what were we can count on…”
Opportunity for young guys during struggles: “…everyone wants to look at it as a zero sum game like you either win the championship or you don’t. I don’t see it that way. There’s opportunity for every team…to make a push forward…organizationally…if we can put this together…and get some minutes for our younger guys along the way that’s gonna pay huge dividends…we wanna raise a trophy at the end but so does everybody else…”
Andre minutes: “About 15 to 17 minutes. He won’t start but he’ll come off the bench.”
Balancing trying to win with staying healthy? “Well we’re trying to win every game…if the training staff says that’s the way to go…stay disciplined in the health front…we don’t even really look at it as a balance…”
Looking back to 2015 Memphis playoff series: “By the time I got here the team has been in the playoffs the two previous years…there was already a sense of playoff experience. What we we’re trying to do was take the next step…our team was right here down 2-1 was the Grizzlies…catapulted and our belief sort of took shape. From there it seemed like we were destined to win it.” 🚨
