Steve Kerr, Otto Porter and Draymond Green spoke to reporters today at Golden State Warriors practice, one day before Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs also practiced, but I did not find any interview content from them. Below are the Zoom calls and below that are the notes & quotes. There will not be morning shootaround again for both teams tomorrow due to the early tipoff.
DISCLAIMER: These are all just notes for my main workflow of YouTube videos, tweeted by beatwriters. I used to transcribe every interview but it became too tedious and not worth the investment for the small amount of views we got on the soundbites on YouTube. The links to the tweets are not available because sometimes I don’t use the full tweet and just having a ton of tweets on this website imo isn’t aesthetically pleasing and gets away from the main goal: transferring information (not so much entertainment) asap.
STEVE
• Kerr starts presser by reminding fans: “Game's at 6 o'clock. So we need you there. Be early, be early. Let's fill up the arena as quickly as possible. We need you in the arena early.” Last night’s crowd was noticeably late to arrive. Bay Area traffic probably a factor. (Tim Kawakami, Brad Townsend, Ron Kroichick)
• The Warriors will have an update on Andre Iguodala (neck injury) later today. Steve Kerr said Iguodala's return for the playoffs remains "up in the air." (Madeline Kenney)
• On the vibe around Warriors: “It’s a giddy type of fun. Especially after missing the playoffs the last two years.” (95.7 The Game)
• On Draymond Green's energy: “The whole crowd feels it. The whole gym lights up. … We’re at our best when he’s attacking.” (95.7 The Game)
• Kerr said Otto Porter Jr. had no issues with his right foot in Game 1: “He was fine today.” (95.7 The Game)
• On the series getting nastier: “After a couple games it starts to get testy.” (me via NBCSBA video)
OTTO
• Otto Porter said he's worked past "uncomfortable pain" in his right heel that popped last series: “Right now I feel 100 percent. It feels good. It feels strong.” He says the training staff got it under control. (95.7 The Game, Kylen Mills)
• On his foot soreness: “It wasn't scary. It was something that happened to me during the season too.” (Mark Haynes)
DRAY
• Draymond Green says Stephen Curry was “absolutely incredible on the boards last night.” (95.7 The Game)
• On the series getting nastier: “I think it’ll get a lot more physical but not testy or nasty because we’re not a testy and nasty team and they’re not a testy and nasty team. … Memphis is a testy and nasty team, that’s their MO, but that’s not who Dallas is and that’s not who we are.” (Callie Caplan, Mills)
• On Steve Kerr: “It’s fun to go to battle with him. Very rarely does he fail…There was not gonna be a team that was gonna come into a game more prepared than us (similar to Michigan State)…The confidence that he has around this time of year is incredible.” (95.7 The Game, me via Janie McCauley video)
• Green said Klay Thompson doesn't need to work his way back. He said he's back now: “From where he’s come from Jan. 9 to today is incredible…Give that man his credit…The things that he’s doing: I’m 1000% sure that people don’t see it. It’s been like that for 10 years…The game he's been playing on the floor and impacting winning -- has been the same Klay I've always been to battle with in the playoffs.” (Mills, 95.7 The Game, Haynes, Townsend, NBCSBA)
• Asked what a typical celebration/smack talk might be after a big play or bucket: “Mine ain’t repeatable… mine is filled with a bunch of F-bombs.” (Mills)
• On staying locked in 24/7 during the playoffs: “You gotta live this, you gotta feel it, you gotta breathe it. … Everything you got gotta go into this to win a championship.” (95.7 The Game)
• Draymond’s mom calls during his presser. “Mom, I’m doing an interview.” Moms starts talking, anyway. “Mom, they can hear you.” Mom: “Oh, OK.” (Townsend)

• On Kevon Looney: “His success is earned and it’s not a surprise at all.” (95.7 The Game)
• Draymond Green teasing Charles Barkley during media availability. Says he understand why Barkley hates on the Warriors, they got so many rings he doesn’t have: “Chuck won the Black Masters, y’all see that? Chuck finally won something!” (Mills)
