Love Your Dubs Summit sneak peek: “The Town” designer Dustin Canalin

We have officially relaunched the Love Your Dubs Summit! It will occur on Thanksgiving and Black Friday, a 48-hour marathon consisting of back-to-back broadcasts of over 22 hours of interviews I did, 30+ in total, with 40+ different speakers across DubNation and the NBA as it relates to the Warriors, ofc.
One of them was Dustin Canalin. My interview with him will air this evening at 6pm (details below) as a “sneak peek” of the Summit.
Canalin designed The Town jerseys that we all adore. They’ll get a reboot tonight as Golden State gave it a Fall “chocolate” theme, which is pretty 🔥 although the original blacks from Nike’s first foray into “City Edition” alternates in 2017-18 ought to go into the Hall of Fame, all due respect.
Here’s Canalin (see IG Reel below) on how he ended up as “The Town Guy” — I made that moniker up, just now, but mainly as an easy way to fit into the graphic above lol:
I knew coming in to Nike that I literally told them, I don’t know if it was my first day or in my interview or what, but it was like, I’m willing to take this job and only if I get to design the Warriors jerseys. And that was the reason why I left entrepreneurship, to take a corporate job in Beaverton.
I oversaw a lot of the jerseys, so I was able to contribute across the board on just the general storytelling of what was happening from the Warriors to the Knicks, to whoever.
But obviously when the Warriors came up, I jumped right in. The process was really grueling, for anyone that’s had to work with that many powerful entities like you have Nike basketball, just the division. They have everything that they need to accomplish with making the uniforms with the NBA. The NBA has to approve and sign off, and then there’s the team owners, there’s the fans. Everybody has to okay it.
So I decided to do a “sneak peek” for the Love Your Dubs Summit tonight at 6:00PM PST that dovetails right into our usual Watch Party livestream for the Utah Jazz game.
You have to register (for free) at https://loveyourdubs.com to get the link — oh, and everyone who registers get an entry into one of our four (4!) giveaways of Shot Ready, the picture book by one Wardell Stephen Curry.
What happened with the original Summit?
In July, dismayed by the social media narratives about the Warriors, particularly the Jonathan Kuminga hate, I wanted to “shimmer the field” and try something different in the NBA content space.
In Sept-Oct, I interviewed 40+ speakers which culminated into 22+ hours of content spanning 30+ interviews.
The original plan called for the Summit to be broadcast on multiple evenings leading up to Warriors Opening Night, October 21st. There would be two or three “episodes” from The Vault aired each night. We didn’t quite get the traction we were hoping for, and doing this every night was starting to take its toll over time, so I came up with Version 2.0, the 48-hour marathon.
Be sure to register for free at https://loveyourdubs.com so you’ll get the link to the livestream and know what the schedule is, when your favorite speakers will be talking!
