- staff/Atkinson: “last year, I’m not gonna criticize anybody…kinda nuts with Covid and everything…practice times…on our heels…they’re huddling with some of our scouts…this is a whole different level of engagement…sit with both of those guys and go over their whole plan. That’s the NBA now…Jama…has a great pedigree with it…he often mentioned guys on his teams…and what they did with them…renewed focus…”

Kuminga is sinking into my brain and seeing how positive Myers is about him helps me process this pick and the ceiling that this player has. There is no question that he looks like an NBA player and a real wing. With polish, we may have gotten a true steal out of this one.

Bob talking more about hard cap, but he gets up from podium to leave. I guess clarifying with a reporter. Zoom call ends.

- getting vets? S&T? “I think it’s out because we’re past the hard cap, way past it…we can’t take one in…we can send a player out…how hard it’s gonna be to get players? Idk, it’s an interesting market…we’ll be a little more selective…our payroll is crazy, it’s huge…we hope Juan can give us some minutes 🚨 …Damion Lee, certain guys that we can kind of plug in…maybe we need a backup point guard…see what we can do with Nico Mannion…I do believe players wanna come play for us, players also want to make money…pretty confident we can get some guys.”

- any trades? Kuminga’s name? “Idk because we didn’t talk about take this guy…we were mostly just focused on the draft…traction? Not really…nothing got past into the red zone, 50-yard line…and that’s what we’ll do in FA…”

- post-Curry era of Wiseman Kuminga Poole? “Yeah you have to (think about it)…it’s not binary, right?…tonight, this was the best choice…we think about the present we think about the future…players play a lot longer…certain players can…there’s 20, 21 yo who are playing a lot of minutes…and then if it’s not going that way we adjust…the hardest thing for me is not knowing what our team is…we need to see our team with Klay Thompson, there’s no other way to say it 🚨 …because he’s so good…we did the Wiggins deal to play with Klay Thompson…yeah the rookies are part of it, the veterans we sign…”

Kuminga: “his skill at his size…a lot of the coaches described it as an ability to get downhill…he does it at the rim…ability to kind of use their size, use their athleticism, his strength…his shot needs work…so does Moody…bit what we liked was his aggressiveness…he needs to get better shooting but he shoots…the threat of a three is a value…confidence…work ethic…”

- Kuminga NBA skill, rookies and Wiseman: “they may change the rules where we get 15 active…the question is are they gonna be in the rotation?…where can they give us minutes…hopefully they’re all healthy…like I said we’re gonna need some veterans…Klay’s a part, when’s he back?…we played small…do we wanna go that way?…we really need some time…ended the last season with so much uncertainty…”

- Kuminga workout: “we better go do this just in case he’s there…a lot of us went to Miami, Joe…we even brought Kenny Atkinson…he got on the floor with him…Steve couldn’t be here…I wanna see how he reacts to pressure…how he protects the rim…handled them well, he was conversive…always impressed when a player will come to dinner by himself…it’s hard for an 18 yo to sit there and answer questions…he handed himself really well, he was talking about his parents coming to town…hadn’t seen his parents in 5 years…speaks 4 languages…his nature, we asked him who he admired…the whole package, the whole thing was nice…his brother worked out with us on Sunday…father figure…surround him with support so I saw that he had that…kid that wants to be great…”

Look. The truth is warriors are not ready to give a 34yr old steph the supermax. They are drafting kids and meyers repeated the same stuff lacob said.." even joe montana got traded". I'm sure steph is not that slow to see the handwritings on the wall. He needs to contact embiid and move on. 76ers is his best chance of winning. Nothing kuminga does helps steph. Hr doesnt even know how to play basketball.. im all in for drafting kids and securing the franchise's future but why draft a kid with nothing to build on?

For context Jonathan Kuminga G league stats last year (13 games) 15.8 pts 7.2 rbs 2.7 asts 1 stl 0.8 blocks 32 MPG v 38-24-62 splits

Smailagic G league stats in 2019-20: (9 games) 14.1 pts 6.0 rbs 1.3 asts 0.8 stls 1 block 27 MPG 52-22-58 splits

If they drafted trey murphy 3rd and moody. We know we have talent to work with. Kuminga is an athletic kid with no identifiable hooping skill.

The bulls thought they could win without MJ. 23yrs later they wished they never made thatc choice.

So, a baby Dub lineup of Poole, Moody, Kuminga, Paschall, and Wiseman as the 2nd unit?

The Warriors really like them raw lately. If you consider they traded 2 seconds to get Smiley, they go with Wiseman at 2, and now Kuminga. They have pretty much invested in the rawest players they can find over the last 3 years. Strange because they built their success upon high basketball IQ guys and the last few years have been like adding guys who can only play chopstix to a symphony.
