Thank you for the thread. It’s all how you respond to adversity. Close games when things don’t go right and the team is off- it can be a good learning experience. Close games is something the Dubs haven’t had many of. Nothing stays exactly the same in the NBA- coaches and teams make adjustments. 19-4 is still more that most of us expected
Odd thing is, I’ve been exhausted from the road trips (first time since pre-COVID and East Coast trips are tough with the cold weather). I completely *forgot* about Kerr pregame, so it’s like I’m as mentally and physically drained as they are and I don’t have to play in an NBA game, but I could be wrong and maybe there is no actual connection or comparison to be made. Another East Coast one coming up with two back-to-backs inside of it. Could be brutal. Kerr probably feels it too, btw. The whole team top to bottom is tired especially spending a lot of energy going twice in a row vs PHX. And I think he literally is ok with that with JK and Moody staying with SCW.
Pieces of the puzzle, Bob Myers: “Everybody deserves credit…I mean, starting with Bob…everybody understanding what their job is. We all have the same goal…shout out to Bob…we got a deep team…we had six guys not here tonight…yeah man, shout out to Bob…still got a lot of room to grow…”
First half: “…lack of energy, we just came out flat. And wild we come out flat that’s what’s gonna happen…we’re one of the better teams in the NBA and we’re the Warriors…everyone’s gonna give us their best shot…we gotta rely on our defense…when we’re in transition we find easy shots…we weren’t giving many stops…execution goes down when you’re playing against a set defense and they were scoring every time…our defense was non-existent in the first few minutes.”
Steph: “…just missed some shots tonight…he’s human. It’s funny to think that…he got rolling late…we gave up an offensive rebound, that’s the whole team’s fault collectively…our offensive is all about reads, so I don’t really see any comparisons to how Phoenix was guarding him…”
Emotional hangover vs PHX: “If I say that it was I feel like that’s an excuse but that’s just me as a competitor…still feel confident about my team…play that team multiple times, my team is gonna have an edge…I don’t have reasons about last night. We lost.”
Not giving up: “It’s tough to win against any team coming off a back-to-back…everybody gonna come in and give you their best shot…still no excuse…they were better than us…climb out of that hole, that says a lot about us…those little things, those possessions that change everything…Steph’s rolling…perseverance…coming together collectively…it’s 82 games, you’re not gonna win every game off of talent…I’m not one for moral victories and Draymond says the same…next game…”

Steph cold, notice him 0/9? “…shoot when you’re open, be aggressive…being a star in their role…get the team easy shots, if there’s two on him that probably means there’s someone open on the backside…doesn’t matter…0-for-20…he’s gonna shoot the ball and it’s gonna go in, not all the time but come on now.”
Easier to flush this game away? “It’s never easy…unless you get completely blown out…giving ourselves a chance with two minutes to go…not be in such a big deficit early…”
Team didn’t give up: “Not in it for moral victories…continued to fight that’s who we are…night in night out, good win yesterday, emotionally high…that’s what the NBA is about…”
Looking back at 24-0 in 2016: “Yeah that winning streak…probably will never be broken because you’re just naturally gonna run into nights like tonight…it’s just so hard to get through an NBA season without running into nights like tonight…thrilled with my team…where we’re heading…”

Trap game first signs: “Maybe being down 19 five minutes into the game?…force and downhill and we were laboring out there…hole early…48-minute game goes on forever…we held them to 13 points in the fourth quarter…”

I think J Kuminga and M Moody could have helped the GS Warriors tonight especially with O Porter Jr. out. The GS Warriors could have used some energy from fresher/younger legs in the fist half. Sorry they did not use their strength in numbers with the rookies.
Kerr said in the postgame that (I’m paraphrasing) it’s ok to lose a couple games right now. “We didn’t have to win” vs PHX, that’s it’s the “body of work” that matters. And so with that I think the organization felt that having JK and Moody b2b in SCW instead of SCW-GSW b2b was more beneficial to the bigger picture. I’ll try to ask Kerr about that at the next practice, if I’m able (usually whether I can or not is logistical). Also speaking of logistics, maybe it was just better logistically to keep JK and Moody integrated with SCW for two days rather than back and forth, even though Santa Cruz is only a couple hours drive away.
