I had no prob with GP2's comments. He's 28 not a young gun, and how much he's offered will have a lot to do with whether he remains a Warrior. I hope he remains a Warrior, but the org will do what's best for the org, and GP2 will do what's best for him personally, and sometimes these don't always align. Let's hope things work out right tho.
Well, our strength is our YouTube channel, not this website. You can go there and comment on the COMMUNITY post for this website article and you’ll get more discussion if you want. Of course, other places have Twitter and Reddit (too toxic and negative for us) and their own websites (usually too opinion-based and lacking factual information). So while I would love to see more people discussing on here and in a positive way, the truth is, it’s already happening on our YouTube channel. Hope to see you there!
It is so much more informative to hear what is actually said in response to the questions and how the players look when the respond. Just reading some sometimes random quotes is not as insightful and interesting.
Thanks for watching! Yeah, I agree, that’s why I try not to miss a single interview. And even for the Boston players, I feel like there’s another dimension of each player that you get to know and it helps me process who they are when I see them play on the court.
All I can say is I heard the dad say that and it bothered me. I have no ability to go back to all I have seen in the last 3-4 months to find his exact words. As I said, I did not think there was anyone else on the site and so I went ahead and speculated about Payton and his dad, first from what I observed, and second from this medical professional who treats Gary Payton. I am 77 years old and have spent some time observing human nature. To speculate/comment on human interactions is not necessarily judgmental, but I now understand that it is not something you want in your discussions.
And you are absolutely right, this is your site, and everyone should follow your criteria. I did not know what they were, but now that I do, I will definitely follow them and in the future I will read, enjoy, and appreciate.
Since no one else is here I will say my piece. Sometimes GP2 sounds like a 17-year-old, not a 28-year-old. If you look at the father-son interaction, it almost seems like GP2 is being infantilized by his father. I go to a medical professional who treats GP2 and he tells me that the father is there all the time telling both of them what to do. Who knows?!
His dad is an interesting character who made a living intimidating people in a 90s environment. Perhaps that’s all it is. Every person has a unique relationship with their dad. Be careful not to be too judgmental and think that their relationship ought to fall under some societal guideline. Again, sorry, but I’m a journalist and by nature I am going to keep the information on my own website as factual as possible. When I see that gross speculation can lead to misinformation, whether it’s stated as an opinion or not, I will do what I have to do to keep my ideals of proper journalism (i.e., not enabling misinformation) intact. Don’t take it personal. Thanks for your understanding.
So interesting. I previously saw clips with GP implying his son might not be back. GPII ‘s words here are not exactly encouraging. The Warriors seem, I repeat seem, to be a team that is a lot about loyalty. So I am not thrilled by Gary PaytonII ‘s response.
I don’t see anything wrong with what GP2 said. As for GP Sr., he already said some outlandish things to Draymond after Game 5. Go look that up on YouTube. GP Sr. says a lot of 90’s era type bully stuff, so I don’t really worry about him. But also he’s said he’s proud of his son (go look that up too, it went viral like yesterday). And finally back to GP2, I think for whatever reason this interview has completely clouded your mind. GP2 is AS LOYAL TO THEIR TEAM AS THEY COME. It’s outside the scope of this website yo document all the times he’s actually shown more loyalty to his team than the average NBA player. So, as someone who has definitely watched more GP2 interviews this season, I can safely say that I am shocked you doubt GP2’s “loyalty” to the Warriors.
I don’t think it is necessarily true that GP implied GP2 would not be back. I’m sorry, I just have to disagree with that unless you have some piece of evidence you’d like to share. I have to do my best to dispel misinformation, that’s one of my things.

Thanks, I didn’t know there was anyone else on this discussion group. I have never seen one comment. I will adjust my comments accordingly.

Thanks, I’ll stick to your occasional précis.
Thanks for having the video of these interviews!

Can we just leave it at ‘different takes on someone’s words and behaviors’.
